UK Stages

Follow us as we cycle throughout the UK with the igus:bike

The UK leg of the tour has finally arrived! We set off nice and early from our office in Northampton and fingers crossed that the British weather is kind to us! Come with us on a tour of the UK with the igus bike, visiting iconic points, fabulous scenery and some of our wonderful customers.

Stage 1 – From the Office to Cambridge

📍 Starting Point: igus office in Northampton

🏁 Destination: Cambridge

📏 Distance: 10 km

🚴 Riders: Matthew Aldridge & Michael Argent

From leaving Northampton and after a brief stop at one of our partners RS in Corby, we set off for the historic and iconic city of Cambridge.

Cycling along the cobbled streets, we passed many world renowned cultural landmarks, such as the University of Cambridge, The Corpus clock, Newtons Apple Tree and the historic market square.

After a full day exploring the beautiful city of Cambridge, we took the bike for a well deserved rest on a boat trip along the River Cam.

Stage 2 – Touring London!

📍 Starting Point: Chelsea, London

🏁 Destination: London

📏 Distance: 31.05 km

🚴 Rider: Dean Aylott

A very early start to the day but what a start it was!

Cycling along the streets of London in the early morning, passing some of the worlds most prominent landmarks; Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the home to the king of theatre himself, Shakespeares Globe.

The bike showed why it is the perfect city bike, whizzing around the streets with ease.

Stage 3 – Welcome to Wales (and the rain!)

📍 Starting Point: Welshpool, Wales

🏁 Destination: Wales

📏 Distance: 9.73 km

🚴 Rider: Jake Fays

And here comes the rain! So very typically British, it wouldn’t be the UK leg of the tour without a spot of rain!

Not deterred by the weather, Taylor and Harry met up with Jake, a former intern of igus’, who is currently studying in Wales.

The three of them set off for a tour of the beautiful Welsh countryside.

The rain won’t break the igus bike, but will it break our riders souls ( and camera lens?)

Stage 4 – Hills, Viaducts and cows!

📍 Starting Point: Bakewell

🏁 Destination: Peak District

📏 Distance: 15.1 km

🚴 Riders: Taylor Macdonald & Harry Worts

Day 4 brings us to a beautiful part of the country, the Peak District. Known for its breath-taking scenery, this was not going to be an easy day for the riders!

Thankfully the weather was much kinder to us and Taylor and Harry were able to explore the Peaks while staying dry!

Some hard kilometres cycled today but well worth the effort.

Stage 5 – Celebrating all things theatre and stage

📍 Starting Point: Knowsley

🏁 Destination: Liverpool

📏 Distance: 20 km

🚴 Riders: Mark Smith & Harry Worts

We have made it to day 5 and have reached the start of our Northern leg!

We had the great honour of introducing the bike to the spot that legends like Paul McCartney studied at the Liverpool Institute of performing arts, as well as spending time with a valued customer Adlib.

Cycling around Liverpool once again proved how perfect this bike is for urban living.
