Austrian Stages
The igus:bike world tour has arrived in Austria — a country where alpine beauty meets imperial history, and where tradition and innovation ride side by side. From lakeside towns to baroque cities, this journey takes us across Austria’s diverse regions on the igus:bike — a fully plastic bicycle made from recycled materials that requires no lubrication or maintenance.
We kick off our tour in the breathtaking Attersee region, surrounded by turquoise waters and rolling hills. From there, we continue south to the shores of Lake Traunsee, riding through the picturesque town of Gmunden, known for its castles, lakeside promenades, and historic charm.
Next, we explore the lively town of Ried im Innkreis, combining local heritage with modern technology. The journey leads us to the lakes and mountains of Mondsee, a postcard-perfect setting in the heart of the Salzkammergut.
We then arrive in Salzburg, the city of Mozart and baroque elegance, before heading into the green heart of Austria — Styria. In Kobenz, we cycle through forested trails and inclusive outdoor routes, while Graz offers a mix of Renaissance courtyards and futuristic architecture.
Following the Danube, we head east through Lower Austria’s scenic countryside before reaching Vienna, the grand finale of our Austrian route. Here, we explore Schönbrunn Palace, the Old Town, and famous landmarks like Stephansdom and the Prater Tower — all from the saddle of our sustainable igus:bike.
Austria offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, urban culture, and real-world testing grounds for the igus:bike. But the journey isn’t over yet — next stop: Hungary.
