Finally, the igus:bike was welcomed at igus India. Here it peddled through the vibrant Indian cities of Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai visiting customers and scenic locations showcasing the rich Indian culture. The igus:bike came, it saw, and it conquered! As part of igus’ 60-year celebration, this maintenance-free, lubrication-free, and 100% recyclable bike hit the roads of India, and what a journey it has been! Covering Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai, the tour was packed with grand launch events, press conferences, customers visit, dinner with industry leaders, exhibitions, and meet-ups with enthusiastic influencers—an electrifying mix of culture, innovation, and adventure.
The journey began in Bangalore. The bike rode through tech hubs, research institutions, and scenic city routes, capturing the essence of India’s Silicon Valley. From meeting the press and industry leaders to the grand showcase of the bike at Asia’s largest machine tool exhibition- we were overwhelmed by the response. Also, our visit to Panchavati, the historic residence of Nobel laureate Sir CV Raman in Malleswaram was a memorable moment for us. From Sunrise to Sunset, Chennai welcomed us in all its grandeur. The ride started with a serene sunrise at Marina Beach before pedalling through coastal roads, and industrial centres. And then came Mahabalipuram, —the ride through coastal roads, historic temples and ocean breeze was breathtaking. Finally, the bike reached Pune and Mumbai. Here, we rode through iconic heritage spots and industry hubs.
The journey through picturesque Lonavala and along Marine Drive provided the perfect ending to our India tour. From tradition and history to beaches and mountains, the igus:bike India Tour was a celebration of India’s dynamic spirit. As the bike continues its world tour, the memories made here will remain close to our hearts and remind us that the road ahead is sustainable, forward-thinking, and full of energy.

Today, at the grand inauguration, Dakshina Kannada folk and Chenda Melam from Kerala were performed, upholding the elegance of Indian dance forms. Starting from 27th January 2025, the bike will peddle through 3 Indian cities—Bangalore (week 1), Chennai (week 2), and Mumbai (week 3) —visiting customers and scenic locations showcasing the rich Indian culture.
