Finally, the igus:bike was welcomed at igus India. Here it peddled through the vibrant Indian cities of Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai visiting customers and scenic locations showcasing the rich Indian culture. The igus:bike came, it saw, and it conquered! As part of igus’ 60-year celebration, this maintenance-free, lubrication-free, and 100% recyclable bike hit the roads of India, and what a journey it has been!  Covering Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai, the tour was packed with grand launch events, press conferences, customers visit, dinner with industry leaders, exhibitions, and meet-ups with enthusiastic influencers—an electrifying mix of culture, innovation, and adventure.

 The journey began in Bangalore. The bike rode through tech hubs, research institutions, and scenic city routes, capturing the essence of India’s Silicon Valley.  From meeting the press and industry leaders to the grand showcase of the bike at Asia’s largest machine tool exhibition- we were overwhelmed by the response. Also, our visit to Panchavati, the historic residence of Nobel laureate Sir CV Raman in Malleswaram was a memorable moment for us. From Sunrise to Sunset, Chennai welcomed us in all its grandeur. The ride started with a serene sunrise at Marina Beach before pedalling through coastal roads, and industrial centres. And then came Mahabalipuram, —the ride through coastal roads, historic temples and ocean breeze was breathtaking. Finally, the bike reached Pune and Mumbai. Here, we rode through iconic heritage spots and industry hubs.

The journey through picturesque Lonavala and along Marine Drive provided the perfect ending to our India tour. From tradition and history to beaches and mountains, the igus:bike India Tour was a celebration of India’s dynamic spirit. As the bike continues its world tour, the memories made here will remain close to our hearts and remind us that the road ahead is sustainable, forward-thinking, and full of energy.

Stage 1 Namaste, India: The igus Bike’s Adventure Starts Here.

Founded in 1964, igus® has been redefining innovation through sustainability. As a part of 60 year celebration, the igus:bike is on a world tour, and it has reached India. Today, at the grand inauguration, Dakshina Kannada folk and Chenda Melam from Kerala were performed, upholding the elegance of Indian dance forms. Starting from 27th January 2025, the bike will peddle through 3 Indian cities—Bangalore (week 1), Chennai (week 2), and Mumbai (week 3) —visiting customers and scenic locations showcasing the rich Indian culture.

Stage 2 Pedaling Towards a Greener Tomorrow: The Press Meets Our igus:bike

At today’s event we had meaningful interaction with the press. Mr. Thilo Schultes (CEO drytech new businesses), our Managing Director, Mr. Deepak Paul, and our Director, Mr. Santhosh Jacob, gave meaningful insights on the igus products, the igus;bike world tour and the company’s vision to embrace sustainable solutions for the betterment of our society.

Stage 3 igus:bike- The Eye-Catcher at IMTEX 2025

The igus:bike has arrived at IMTEX, Asia’s biggest machine tool exhibition. As the bike spinned through the exhibition floor, it grabbed the attention of everyone- visitors, customers and influencers. We are absolutely elated at how the igus:bike is being welcomed in India. 

Stage 4 A ride through trees with no grease and a soft launch with the industry leaders

This year marks a double milestone—60 years of igus Germany and 25 years of igus India to kick start the igus:bike tour in India. As the celebration continued, the bike, was part of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Fractal Works in Bangalore. The eagerness and hype around the igus:bike is overwhelming and in the evening it was a grand celebration at the Taj with the industry leaders.

Stage 5 Innovation in Motion – Riding into Remidio and Titan Engineering and Automation

Today, our igus:bike visited Remidio, a medical device company that harnesses AI and telemedicine to make eye testing more accessible to all. Their products are designed to be user-friendly, affordable, and reliable, revolutionizing eye care technology. Our next stop was at Titan Engineering and Automation Limited (TEAL). The overwhelming responses in both places made our day.
