Portuguese Stages
Pedal, Porto, and Passion: a scenic journey through Portugal’s gems
The portuguese adventure begins at our headquarters, where we’ll set off on an unforgettable bike tour through our beautiful city, Porto. Along the way, we’ll visit iconic monuments such as the Clérigos Tower and ride across the Douro River, taking in stunning views of the Luís I Bridge and the historic D. Maria Pia Bridge, built in 1877 and attributed to Gustave Eiffel.
We’ll finish this first stage by the riverside, where a fun team event awaits, everyone will have the chance to test the igus:bike and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation together.
Next, our journey continues south to Aveiro, often called the “Portuguese Venice,” where we’ll explore its charming canals and visit some of our clients.
+++ We did not ride the official tour bike in Portugal as it is already on its way to the USA. The kilometres ridden are shown below, but are not included in the total distance. +++
Stage 1 Foggy Beginnings in Porto

Date: 15. October 2025
Starting Point: Pérgola da Nevogilde, Porto
Destination: Casa Rocha, Melres
Distance: 38.2 km
Riders: Ricardo Carvalho, Rodrigo Lemos
Porto’s foggy morning set a cinematic tone for Stage 1 of the igus:bike Tour Portugal. We rolled out from the seaside Pérgola da Foz, traced the coast to the Douro, and watched the mist lift to reveal the waterfront and the Arrábida Bridge.
A climb led us to the striking Casa da Música, then into the city past Praça dos Leões, Livraria Lello, and the Torre dos Clérigos.
Back by the river, we crossed the Dom Luís I and Maria Pia bridges, then followed the Douro east to Melres for test rides, stories, and a team dinner – an Invicta day on the igus:bike, strong, beautiful, and full of surprises. From fog to sun Porto’s Invicta spirit shone so brightly.
Stage 2 From the Ria of Aveiro to great engineering — Discovering Aveiro

Date: 17. October 2025
Starting Point: Flex2000, Ovar
Destination: Motofil, S.A, Ílhavo
Distance: 49.6 km
Riders: Ricardo Carvalho, Daniel Silva
Our Igus Bike Tour Portugal continued south to the magical Ria de Aveiro, a 45 km lagoon on Portugal’s western coast. Starting in Ovar, we visited Flex2000, an igus partner specializing in advanced industrial solutions, where we saw igus e-chains® for long travels under real conditions.
Cycling by calm waters and colorful moliceiro boats, we reached Motofil, known for robotics and automation. Motofil tested the igus:bike alongside factory bikes and shared insights about integrating igus motion plastics for reliability.
