The U.S. leg of the igus:bike tour has begun!

The igus:bike has officially landed in the United States, and we wasted absolutely no time kicking off the U.S. leg of the tour! But hold on before our riders could even think about their first customer visit, we had a much more pressing mission: tracking down some early morning fuel in the form of breakfast burritos!

Our first customer visit brought us straight to Colorado Springs to meet with RockShox, a powerhouse subsidiary of SRAM. What better way to launch a bike tour than with a visit to a company that literally specializes in making bike rides smoother? RockShox has been a staple in the bicycle industry, especially in the rugged world of mountain bikes, since its founding in 1989.

We were welcomed with open arms by an enthusiastic group of the RockShox team. We didn’t just chat about the igus:bike; the conversation quickly shifted to our past and present projects with RockShox. It was so productive, in fact, that our talks even unearthed an older project that’s now ready to be dusted off and totally revitalized!

After a thoroughly productive and fulfilling day with the amazing RockShox crew, it was time to say goodbye and start rolling toward the next stop. But we couldn’t leave without a little sightseeing! With the weather sitting at a glorious 75°F (23.8°C) and clear skies, our riders had the perfect excuse to pull over at Garden of the Gods, a stunning public park just a few miles away. They took in the gorgeous, towering red-rock views (and yes, they briefly lamented about being unable to go rock climbing right then and there!).

With one awesome customer visit complete, and the perfect pit stop made, our riders are now ready to make their way to the next stage of our tour: Grand Junction, Colorado!

Chris Sandven has been with igus® nearly nine years as a Territory Sales Manager for Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. He started as the Bike Industry Specialist in 2024, and as an avid sports fan and outdoor enthusiast, the opportunity to join the igus:bike tour was too good for him to pass up.

Philip Pauli started with igus® in 2022 in International Sales for iglide® bearings, and by September of 2024 had become the bike industry manager at our headquarters in Germany. He loves the outdoors, whether it’s hiking, climbing, or mountain biking, and knew he couldn’t miss out on the igus:bike tour.
