The Liguria stage – riding along the sea, savoring seafood dishes
Diego Ghislandi | 28. June 2025
Today, no customer to visit is planned… We have a whole day to relish the charming Ligurian coast
We’re in Cogoleto, one of those villages that looks like it’s been drawn with pastel crayons, wedged between the sea and the hills. The weather is perfect – a little too hot maybe – but the salty breeze and the view ahead convince us to rent two extra bikes so all four of us can ride together. Some days are just meant to be shared.

The riding bike path from Cogoleto to Arenzano runs right alongside the sea – flat, relaxing and full of sudden glimpses between rocks and blue. Every now and then we stop for a photo, or simply to look around and soak it all in. Riding here feels like gliding through a moving postcard: boats resting in the small and lovely harbor, the sound of the waves always in the background and beaches packed with colourful umbrellas and people enjoying the spectacular Ligurian sea.

It’s that contrast between sea and mountain that makes this region so special. The coastline is narrow, and every village clings to the side of the hills. That mix creates a landscape that’s both unique and unmistakable — instantly recognizable all over the world.

Hunger hits us along the way and as everyone knows, you eat really well in Liguria. We find a small seaside restaurant that immediately attracts us. It’s the perfect spot to sit down and enjoy a Calamarata: a true local seafood specialty.
In the afternoon, we hop back on the bikes and head back, taking our time. The day ends with dinner by the sea: it’s hard to choose a dish from the menu… Every dish, every specialty is tempting.

Tomorrow, we hit the road again. But today? Today was just right: a pause, a ride, and a dinner we won’t forget anytime soon.
