Let’s start in the heart of Paris

It all begins at the foot of the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral. First coffee, first pedals, first shots… and first “wow” from passers-by intrigued by this unusual bike. Today is the launch day for the igus:bike tour in France, and what better place to kick things off than Paris?  

9 a.m.: our bike-team starts the day by shooting an opening video. The objective? To showcase the encounter between a rusty old bike and the igus:bike, the 100% plastic, maintenance-free bike that’s ready to conquer the capital. 

Once we’ve put the camera away, it’s time for a stroll. Like a tourist in a hurry, we take in the mythical Parisian places.

After Notre-Dame Cathedral, we make our way gently up the Quais de Seine, through the gardens to the Tuileries, before skirting the majestic Louvre. The pyramid in the background, the igus:bike in the foreground. 

We continue towards the Place de la Concorde, where we take a well-deserved break… macaroons in hand, comfortably seated in a small park. Because a tour of Paris without a sweet treat isn’t really Paris. 

Recharged, we hit the Champs-Élysées, heading up towards the Arc de Triomphe. A symbolic stop in front of the PSG store, freshly crowned European football champions. A Parisian wink and a nice contrast between two worlds of performance: pro sports and mechanical engineering. 

Then comes the highlight of the show : a descent to the Trocadero, and the ultimate shoot-out under the Eiffel Tower. End-of-day sunshine, cobblestones, the silhouette of the bike and the metallic glitter of the “Iron Lady”… it’s hard to imagine a better setting to round off the first day. 

Tomorrow we’ll have a change of scenery : the same city, but a different atmosphere – one of industrial visits and meetings with our customers. To then head north for the next stage of our adventure…
