Stage 6. The Finale Woven with Tradition
Minju Kim | 14. March 2025

After six days of cycling across the country, the final leg of the igus:bike tour led to Oeam Folk Village in Chungcheongnam-do. A place steeped in Korean tradition, it provided a fitting setting to conclude this journey. The crisp air of early winter was met with the comforting warmth of tea, a moment of quiet reflection before setting off once more.

Riding igus:bike through the village quickly caught the attention of visitors. Many were intrigued by the innovative design—bicycles made from recycled fishing nets and requiring no lubrication. Some even took the opportunity to test them out, expressing genuine admiration for the seamless ride and the sustainable technology behind them. It was a reminder that innovation and tradition could coexist, sparking curiosity and inspiration in unexpected places.

The tour’s final stop was at Cowin Tech, a leader in logistics automation, specialising in conveyor systems and stackers. During the visit, the Cowin Tech manager highlighted igus’s key advantages—exceptional durability, reliability, and the ability to provide customized solutions that enable rapid design processes. These strengths have made igus an invaluable partner in the field of industrial automation.

From the historic alleys of a folk village to the cutting-edge world of automation, this journey was more than just a bike tour. It was a testament to the power of sustainable technology and its growing impact across different industries. As the journey ended, one thing was clear—innovation is not just about looking forward; sometimes, it’s about blending the past and the future in perfect harmony.
