Stage 6: From Urban Pulse to Medical Innovation – Graz with Tyromotion

Michael Poepke | 17. July 2025

Stage 6 of the igus:bike Tour Austria takes us through the western neighborhoods of Graz, where cultural vibrancy meets cutting-edge healthcare technology. Leading today’s ride is Dominik Binder, Technical Sales Representative for drytech® Bearings & Linear Technology .From creative venues to a global medtech pioneer, this stage blends local character with forward-thinking spirit — all experienced from the saddle of the low-maintenance, sustainable igus:bike.

Urban Pulse: Lendplatz

We begin at Lendplatz, a lively hub where farmers’ markets, cafés, and local color reflect the city’s creative edge. The square hums with energy — the perfect place to set off on a journey powered by sustainability and curiosity.

Stages of Sound: Graz’s Music & Performance Venues

A few pedal strokes later, we pass the Graz performance venues such as the Orpheum and Dom im Berg — institutions that set the rhythm for the city’s cultural heartbeat. They stand for the dynamic blend of tradition and contemporary life that defines Graz.

A Green Pause: Volksgarten

Next stop: the Volksgarten, a beloved public park where locals relax between flower beds, monuments, and fountains. Among its leafy paths stands the Karl Morre monument, a quiet tribute to a 19th-century advocate for civic progress — and a reminder that some ideas move us across centuries.

Care in Action: Barmherzige Schwestern Graz

Next stop: Mariengasse 6, home to the Barmherzige Schwestern of St. Vincent de Paul. This Catholic order has been active in Graz for over 175 years, offering help in hospitals, social institutions, nursing care, and schools. Their mission: “See – Judge – Act.”
This stop reminds us that innovation should serve humanity — and that progress is most meaningful when it uplifts others.

Architectural Charm: Mühl-Schlössl

Further west, the route leads to the Mühl-Schlössl — a hidden architectural gem nestled in a residential quarter. With its elegant façade and timeless flair, it adds a touch of 19th-century refinement to our modern-day tour.

Destination Innovation: Tyromotion GmbH

Stage 6 concludes at Tyromotion GmbH, one of Europe’s leading developers of technology-assisted therapy systems. Known for combining robotics, intelligent motion, and user-centric design, Tyromotion helps patients regain mobility and independence.
During the visit, Dominik explores how igus motion plastics contribute to hygienic, durable, and maintenance-free components — ensuring smooth, safe performance in therapy devices used worldwide.

Conclusion: Where Movement Matters

From the buzz of Lendplatz to the breakthroughs at Tyromotion, Stage 6 is a story of meaningful motion. And with the igus:bike, Dominik shows that efficient, sustainable movement isn’t just about getting from A to B — it’s about shaping the future with every pedal stroke.

Dominik Binder

I’m Dominik Binder, and I joined igus Austria at the beginning of 2025 as a Technical Sales Representative for drytech® bearings and linear technology, covering southern Burgenland and Styria.

Though I’m still new to the team, I’m excited to bring my technical skills and fresh perspective to help customers find the best solutions for their applications. What I appreciate most about igus is the innovative spirit and practical approach to solving complex challenges with smart products.
