Stage 5 Qingdao:From Gaoce to May Fourth Square

We arrived at Qingdao Gaoce Technology Co., Ltd. Its flagship product— the diamond wire saw for crystalline silicon wafer slicing — fills a long-standing gap in China’s photovoltaic industry by providing variable-spindle-distance slicing equipment. Its core technical specifications are now recognized as being at the forefront of international standards.
Since 2018, the company has been steadily expanding the application of diamond wire cutting technology to the processing of other hard and brittle materials, such as semiconductor silicon, silicon carbide, sapphire, and magnetic materials — achieving industrialization and gaining recognition from leading enterprises across multiple sectors. Driven by technological innovation, Gaoce remains committed to creating value for its customers, helping the industry reduce costs and improve efficiency, and contributing to the global goal of carbon neutrality.

The engineers in Gaoce’s R&D department showed great interest in the eco-friendly bicycle made from recycled plastic waste. They eagerly took turns riding it to experience its performance: “From self-lubricating materials to recycled plastics, the idea of turning plastic waste into an eco-friendly bicycle is truly incredible. Although the igus:bike has large wheel hubs, it rides much more smoothly and effortlessly than expected—really impressive. And the environmental concept behind it is fantastic. Igus truly lives up to its reputation as a socially responsible German company.”

Qingdao is located on the coast of the Yellow Sea in the southern part of the Shandong Peninsula. It is an open coastal city in northern China known for its rich cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty. Let’s ride the igus:bike and experience its charm together.

The Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, located along Fushan Bay, was the venue for sailing events during the 29th Olympic Games and the 13th Paralympic Games in 2008. Covering an area of 450,000 square meters, it is also home to the famous scenic spot “Yan Island Autumn Tide.”

The main sculpture at May Fourth Square, “May Wind,” features a spiraling steel structure that rises upward. Its dynamic form and vibrant red color symbolize the passion and power of revolution. As Jenny Xue said, ‘The Wind of May is here. Let’s set sail on the wind jointly in Qingdao.’
