Stage 5: Innovation in the construction industry with COBOD International

Michael Poepke | 3. September 2025

On the fifth and final stage of the Danish igus Bike Tour, we visit one of our most exciting and innovative customers, COBOD International. COBOD has made a name for itself worldwide with its groundbreaking 3D construction printers, which make it possible to print entire buildings. Their 3D printers follow a predefined path based on a 3D model to build structures layer by layer, supported by an advanced material delivery system that ensures accuracy, consistency, and efficiency throughout the process.

At COBOD, we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Jonathan Riise, Head of Research and Development who shared his experiences of the collaboration between COBOD and igus. Mr. Jonathan Riise explained how our energy chains play a central role in their 3D printers: they protect cables on the printer while ensuring that the material hoses that deliver concrete from the pump to the printhead can move reliably and smoothly.

COBOD works in an industry where tradition and innovation meet, the construction industry, and here Jonathan emphasized that igus has been an important partner in development. With our extensive product catalog and ability to quickly find the right solutions, we have helped push the boundaries of what is possible in 3D construction. At the same time, COBOD is interested in taking a closer look at other igus products that can help support their continued growth and innovation.

The stage at COBOD marks a great end to the Bike Tour in Denmark. The journey has not only shown the bike’s route through beautiful cities and landscapes, but also highlighted the strong partnerships that link innovation, technology, and sustainability.
