Stage 4: igus:bike in Wrocław – the city of bridges, dwarfs, and two-wheeled innovation

Anna Kielar | 13. August 2025

igus:bike arrives in the capital of Lower Silesia! Cycling through bridges, parks, and alleys full of surprises, Wrocław proves that technology and magic can go hand in hand..

FIAB – the first stop on the igus:bike route

Before we set off on our Wrocław city tour, we visit FIAB – our long-standing partner in innovation. FIAB machines, used in demanding high-frequency welding processes, are equipped with igus high-performance polymer components. This makes the equipment even more reliable, durable, and resistant to challenging working conditions.

This collaboration shows how FIAB’s expertise combined with igus’s modern solutions creates machines that perform worldwide – and today, we start our Wrocław adventure right here.

Market Square – where the dwarf hunt begins

Next stop – the Market Square. The vibrant heart of the city, surrounded by colorful townhouses and the Gothic town hall. This is where a real game of hide-and-seek begins with Wrocław’s dwarfs, whose number has already exceeded 600. You can spot them near cafés, on window sills, lamp posts, and even traffic lights. igus:bike makes it easy to glide from one “dwarf” surprise to another – whether it’s a gnome with a watering can or a travelling dwarf.

Centennial Hall – UNESCO gem and movie star

Not far away stands the Centennial Hall – an architectural icon listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alongside it, you’ll find the multimedia fountain and the plaza by the spire, both buzzing with activity.

The Centennial Hall has inspired not only architects but also filmmakers – it appeared in the Hollywood blockbuster The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as well as in Wojciech Has’s cult classic The Saragossa Manuscript

Wrocław Zoo – from Poland straight to Africa

A short ride takes us to Wrocław Zoo, one of the largest in Europe. Its famous Afrykarium lets you travel to another continent without leaving Poland. With over 150 years of history and thousands of species, it’s a place that fascinates both children and adults alike.

Grunwaldzki Bridge – the perfect finale

Finally – the Grunwaldzki Bridge. A symbol of the city and one of its most beautiful suspension bridges, which in the evening, under the glow of lights, becomes the perfect backdrop for photos.

igus:bike fits perfectly into this Wrocław journey – lightweight, resistant to dust, moisture, and urban challenges, and as silent as a dwarf on tiptoe. Ready for any adventure – from cobblestone streets to modern film sets.

Our riders: Rober Kolarczyk i Monika Korzeniowska

Robert knows Wrocław inside out – he has worked at igus for 12 years, first as a sales engineer and now as a regional manager. Off the clock, he pursues his passions: sports, especially speedway and football, and DIY projects in his home workshop. Privately, he is a happy husband to Klaudia and father of two little explorers – Karol and Pola. Today, he sets off on the Wrocław stage of the igus:bike tour, combining his sporting spirit with a deep love for the city he knows like the back of his hand.

Monika has been with igus since 2011 and is currently a Product Manager in the bearings department, focusing on technical marketing. Privately, she is a wife and mother to 2-year-old Kornelka, passionate about challenges and travelling – from short trips to long journeys. She prefers nature, peace, and camping under a tent or in a camper over city bustle and luxury hotels. She enjoys active leisure: gardening (especially growing tomatoes), social dancing (bachata, salsa, kizomba), sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, and learning horseback riding. For Monika, cycling is another way to explore the world and enjoy movement.
