Stage 4: From Bowling Pinsetters to Lakeside Adventures: igus Products in Action

Michael Poepke | 29. July 2025

We begin our fourth day of the Hungarian part of the igus:bike worldtour in Székesfehérvár. This city has a deep historical background for Hungarians as it was the crowning city in medieval times. Almost all Hungarian kings were crowned in this city, and the Hungarian crown and crowning jewels were kept here until recently, when they were moved to the Parliament building.

Innovative Engineering: Our Visit to Brunswick Bowling Magyarország Kft.

Here we visit our customer Brunswick Bowling Magyarország Kft. This company manufactures bowling pinsetters for bowling venues. They produce two types: the newer automatic version and the classic string type version.

Both machines’ main functions are to set the pins for bowling players at the end of the lanes, count the hits, return the balls to the players, and reset the pins after the two rolls. These machines have a lot of moving parts, and many of our iglidur bushings have been used for several years in the swivel points of these mechanisms.

After saying goodbye to the bowling lanes, we travel onwards to the south-west until we reach the biggest lake in Central Europe and a favorite holiday destination for people in Hungary and the surrounding countries: Lake Balaton.

Exploring Balatonfüred: The Gem of the Northern Coast

Here we first take a ride in the town of Balatonfüred, the capital of the northern coast. This town is famous for the vineyards in the hills around it, where they mainly produce light and fruity white wines. We roll along the beautiful Tagore promenade and visit the main pier, where we change riders and continue our journey to the next town: Tihany.

Tihany: The Peninsula of Stunning Views

Tihany is located on the one big peninsula that stretches into the lake at approximately one-third of its length. It divides the lake into two large basins: the north-eastern basin, which is smaller but wider and closer to Budapest (therefore more frequented), and the south-western basin, bigger in size but slimmer and longer in shape.

In Tihany, we visit the coast, but primarily stop at the Tihany Abbey—a favorite tourist attraction. Located on top of a hill, the abbey offers stunning views of almost the entire lake.

Saying Goodbye to Hungary: The igus:bike Journeys On

Here we say farewell to the igus:bike while admiring the beautiful lake view. Although we stay here to continue offering our services to customers, the igus:bike begins its journey to the next country, riding ever onward. Keep following the tour!

Our riders:

Áron Timár

Hey, I am Áron Timár from Igus Hungary. I work as a Drytech Outside Sales representative for Western-Hungary for more then 6 years now. I find it really easy to talk to the customers as I often become friends with them. I have a lot of customers who are in the machine building business and I find it hat we can really help them with our products.

As far as hobbies go, I like to do many different kind of sports. I like running, I like table tennis and I like to ride the bicycle too. I live near the lake Balaton so it is a really nice area to do sports in the nature. Apart from this I like to do renovations on my house, do some smaller developments that make my home nicer and cosier.

Péter Teer

Hello everyone, I am Peter Teer and I work for Igus since more then 3 years now as the Outside Sales representative for Western-Hungary responsible for E-chain and Chainflex products. Before Igus I worked as a purchaser so I can easily talk with then and this makes my current job easier in many cases.

One of my biggest hobby is cars. I like all kind of cars, but mainly cars with big american engines and lots of horsepower. For many years I have a secondary car that I change every few years, and on which I constantly tinker in my free time. I also like body building and arm wrestling. I was considering to try and do professional arm wrestling but unfortunately you need to start much earlier if you really want to be a pro, so I am only doing it as a hobby.
