Stage 4: Breathtaking views in Lucerne and a Swiss Chocolate adventure

Ramona Senoner | 8. July 2025

Today our driver Thiemo will show us the best views in Lucerne, a city nestled between the stunning Swiss Alps and the serene waters of Lake Lucerne. We set off from Sursee in the morning with pleasant temperature. As we are situated right above Lake Sempach, we are able to drive close to the water for most of the journey. We finally arrive in Lucerne. Lucerne is often regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland, if not one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Our first stop is the famous Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge), one of the oldest covered wooden bridges in Europe, dating back to the 14th century. Connecting the Old Town with the New Town, this Lucerne landmark offers impressive views of the city and the River Reuss. Next, we visit Schwanenplatz, where we can see some of the world’s most exclusive watch brands. Lucerne is known for its long-standing watchmaking tradition.

Now it’s time for a short boat trip on Lake Lucerne (also known as Vierwaldstädtersee). As we travel, we can enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and picturesque landscape. Lake Lucerne is also known as the heart of Switzerland. Our destination is the Swiss Museum of Transport, the most visited museum in Switzerland. This interactive museum is a paradise for anyone interested in technology and history. It showcases the evolution of transport and mobility in Switzerland and around the world.

We also visit the Swiss Chocolate Adventure theme park inside the Swiss Museum of Transport, where we embark on a journey of discovery to learn about the origins, production and transport of chocolate. We even get to sample some chocolate, which is the perfect way to end today’s tour!

Thiemo Ecknauer

Hello, my name is Thiemo Ecknauer and I’m 28 years old. I have been working as a technical sales consultant for linear and bearing technology in central Switzerland for almost three years. I spend a lot of time in Lucerne, both visiting customers and enjoying my free time, as I really love the city, the lake and the nearby mountains. I’m looking forward to visiting some of my favourite places on the igus:bike. Outside of work, I play padel, ride my motorbike and go hiking with my dog.
