Stage 4: A royal bike ride in Copenhagen
Michael Poepke | 2. September 2025
On the fourth stage of the igus:bike Tour, we head for Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen – a city steeped in history, culture, and iconic sights.
We begin the tour at perhaps the city’s most famous landmark, The Little Mermaid, which has been sitting at the water’s edge welcoming visitors for more than 100 years. Inspired by H.C. Andersen’s fairy tale, she reminds us that Copenhagen is a city where tradition and storytelling coexist with modern life and innovation.
From here, we cycle along the waterfront, enjoying the view of the impressive Opera House – an architectural gem that symbolises modern cultural heritage. The tour continues through beautiful streets and squares until we reach Amalienborg Palace, where Denmark’s royal family lives. The atmosphere around the palace makes it almost impossible not to feel a little royal when standing in front of the majestic buildings and seeing the guards in their distinctive uniforms.
The stage in Copenhagen is more than just a bike ride; it is an experience where history, adventure, and culture merge – and where igus Bike is allowed to roll through the heart of Denmark with both pride and a touch of royal atmosphere.
