Stage 3: PowerCon – our partner in Shorepower

On the third stage of the igus Bike Tour, we visit PowerCon and meet the company’s CFO, Mr. Peter Castberg Knudsen who helped found the company.

For more than a decade, PowerCon has established itself as a flexible and reliable partner for both wind turbine manufacturers and ports around the world. Headquartered in Denmark, the company specializes in solutions for converting electrical power – and today, PowerCon is one of the leading players in shore power for the maritime sector. This development builds on the company’s early success in the internationally recognized Danish wind power industry.

A good example of the collaboration between PowerCon and igus can be found at Oceankaj in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn, where we have jointly supplied energy chains for shore power solutions. For PowerCon, the collaboration with igus is not just about the technical components. As Mr. Peter Castberg Knudsen emphasizes, it is the overall interaction, collaboration, and synergies between the companies that create real value and success.

Conditions at ports are particularly demanding: weather, wind, and salty air place high demands on equipment. Here, igus’ energy chains excel with corrosion resistance, robustness, and long service life, which was a significant factor when PowerCon chose us as a partner.
