Stage 22: Movement that spans decades: technology, partnership, and industrial tradition

Michael Poepke | 8. May 2026

The igus:bike Tour continued along the roads of the São Paulo countryside until reaching a city where industry, innovation, and history move side by side: Piracicaba.

And it was there that the journey met one of the most emblematic partnerships in igus Brazil’s history: ROMI.

Founded in 1930, ROMI has established itself as one of the largest and most traditional industrial machine manufacturers in the country, becoming a global reference in machine tools, plastic processing equipment, and cast iron parts.

Built over decades, the company serves some of the most demanding sectors in the industry — from aerospace to agribusiness, from the automotive industry to heavy manufacturing — always with a clear focus on productivity, precision, and reliability.

And it is precisely in this environment of continuous motion, high acceleration, and maximum operational demands that the partnership with igus becomes even more meaningful.

For more than 15 years, igus has acted as a technical partner to ROMI, supplying solutions developed to withstand extremely demanding industrial applications.

igus energy chains and chainflex® flexible cables are present in nearly the entire ROMI machine and equipment portfolio, ensuring the safe transmission of energy and data even under severe operating conditions, with millions of cycles, constant impacts, and high speeds.

In machining centers and CNC lathes, for example, igus solutions operate on the X and Y axes to protect cables and hoses within compact spaces — a technical detail that makes all the difference when it comes to availability, reliability, and production continuity.

Because in the end, the high performance of a machine also depends on the invisible intelligence that follows every movement.

More than simply supplying components, this partnership represents a joint journey built on engineering, trust, and continuous evolution.

Over the years, igus and ROMI have been developing applications focused on reducing maintenance, increasing system durability, and ensuring safer and more predictable operations for the industry.

A collaboration that reinforces how innovation also means creating solutions capable of operating continuously, with efficiency and safety, even in the most challenging industrial environments.

And on a journey driven by technology and transformation, visiting ROMI during the igus:bike Tour carried a special symbolism.

Because some partnerships do not simply follow projects.
They follow decades of industrial evolution.

After the visit, the route continued along the banks of the traditional Piracicaba River.

Historically connected to water, culture, and the development of the São Paulo countryside, the city revealed another side of the journey: a place where tradition and everyday life coexist in a light and welcoming way.

At the famous Rua do Porto, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the tour experienced the calm rhythm of the riverbanks, the local gastronomy, and the scenery that forms part of Piracicaba’s cultural identity.

Between industry, history, and movement, Stage 22 once again showed that innovation does not happen in isolation.

It is born from connections built over time — between people, companies, technology, and trust.

And it is exactly these connections that continue driving the movement of Brazilian industry forward.
