Stage 17 Yanling：An Ecological Place with Beautiful Landscape and Splendid Culture

Today, we arrived in Yanling County. Here, commemorative forests such as Shende Forest and Fulin Forest have been planted with trees donated by Chinese people from around the world, creating an ecological landscape where culture and nature coexist in harmony.

To put the concept of green development into practice, igus selected a state-owned barren mountain covering more than 100 mu (6.67 hectares) in Yanling County. By January 2024, a total of 8,220 trees of various sizes had been donated and planted on this site. More than a year has passed, and the saplings have all grown up.

Reducing CO₂ emissions is a major concern for igus. We are committed to expanding tree coverage to help absorb existing CO₂. Every year, igus actively donates trees and participates in afforestation projects around the globe. So far, we have planted a total of 76,280 trees worldwide.

Yanling County is named after the Yan Emperor’s Mausoleum, the resting place of Emperor Yan Shennong, one of the founding ancestors of the Chinese nation. Emperor Yan pioneered several milestones of Chinese civilization here, including the agricultural revolution, the development of herbal medicine, the beginnings of trade, and technological innovation. As such, this is not only a sacred site for Chinese people worldwide to trace their roots and pay homage to their ancestors, but also a spiritual symbol of Chinese civilization.

From the era of Emperor Yan’s philosophy of “farming without depleting resources” to today’s “dual carbon” strategy, igus firmly believes that environmental protection and sustainability are not only part of history and heritage — they are also the future.
