Stage 17: When engineering meets the streets of Bento Gonçalves
Rebeca Tarragô | 30. March 2026
Some stages of the igus:bike journey are about landscapes. Others are about industry.
And sometimes… like in Bento Gonçalves…they become something more: a shared experience between people, engineering and the city itself.
A different kind of arrival
The day began at one of the most symbolic landmarks of the region: the Pipa Pórtico, the entrance to Bento Gonçalves.
But this time, the igus:bike was not arriving alone..
Waiting there was the Mesal team — collaborators and executives ready to do something special. Not a factory visit. Not just a meeting.
A ride.
Riding through the city, together
The plan was simple, but meaningful: ride together through the city.
With the support of the municipal traffic guard (GCM), the group set off, forming a small, moving connection between companies, people and the streets of Bento Gonçalves.
Nine Mesal collaborators joined the ride, riding along with the igus:bike along the route — not as spectators, but as part of the experience.
The route itself told a story.
From the Pipa Pórtico, the group moved forward passing by the Cristo Rei Church, where the first rider change happened. From there, the ride continued through the region of Vinícola Aurora, one of the most traditional wineries in Brazil.
The bike followed its path past the Igreja Redonda, crossed important avenues of the city and continued alongside the Dall’Onder Hotel, always accompanied by the rhythm of the city and the presence of the group.
It was not about speed. It was about connection. We created a ride to be remembered.
Arriving at Mesal
The ride ended where engineering takes shape: at Mesal Máquinas.
The team was already waiting, welcoming the arrival with the same energy that had guided the entire route.
The same principles that guided the ride — movement, efficiency, reliability — are the ones that also define Mesal’s work in the industry.
Engineering that fills more than products
Watch the video below to discover more about Mesal and its successful applications in the industry!
During the visit, the focus turned to one of Mesal’s key solutions: the EVO filling machine.
In the beverage industry, filling is one of the most critical stages of production. It requires precision, consistency and reliability — especially when operating at high speeds.
But what stood out most was not only performance.
It was the intention behind it.
Mesal’s approach reflects a broader movement in industry today: combining performance with sustainability.
Through engineering solutions, the EVO line enables more efficient use of resources, including applications that contribute to reducing water consumption during the filling process.
And in an industry where scale is massive, even small improvements can generate significant environmental impact.
Innovation with purpose
Through engineering solutions, the EVO line enables more efficient use of resources — supported by igus motion plastics components applied directly in the system. By replacing conventional metallic parts with self-lubricating polymer bearings, the machine eliminates the need for grease and reduces water usage in critical stages of the filling process.
And in an industry where scale is massive, even small improvements can generate significant environmental impact.
This is where igus technology plays a key role: enabling maintenance-free operation, reducing contamination risks and increasing system reliability — all while lowering resource consumption.
Beyond the equipment itself, the conversation also touched on something deeper. Innovation is no longer just about producing more.
It is about producing better — with more awareness, more responsibility and more efficiency.
This mindset connects directly with the purpose behind the igus:bike journey: showing how engineering solutions — like motion plastics applied in real industrial environments — can move industries forward while contributing to a more sustainable future.
More than a visit
What made this stage special was not only the technology or the discussions.
It was the experience.
Riding through the city together. Sharing the same route. Turning a customer visit into something people will remember.
Because in the end, this journey is not only about machines or solutions.
It is about people — moving, connecting and building ideas together.
Back on the road
With another unforgettable moment behind, the igus:bike continued its journey. And in Bento Gonçalves, the story was not only told inside a factory — it was written on the streets.
Thank you Mesal team for this remarkable experience!
And we should remember that the whole journey has been secured by SURA…
SAFETY PARTNER
To ensure the protection of the igus:bike throughout the entire tour, the initiative counts on the support of Seguros SURA Brasil, a specialist in risk management and future mobility trends.
As the journey progresses, this partnership highlights an essential aspect of cycling culture: safety. While igus develops engineering solutions for applications in motion, SURA offers insurance designed for cyclists, regardless of their riding profile.
The Bici SURA coverage includes:
• Accidental damage during use or storage of the bicycle
• Theft or robbery
• Electrical damage in electric bicycles
• Damage during transportation when carried out by the insured rider
• Full reimbursement of transportation and rescue costs for the cyclist in case of accidents

Our riders:
Beatriz Sebastiani – Marketing Analyst
My name is Beatriz, and I have been part of the igus Brazil marketing team since 2024, when I began my journey as an assistant.
From the very beginning, I felt that igus would provide me with opportunities for both professional and personal growth. Today, one of my main responsibilities in marketing is managing online orders, which have been growing exponentially each year.
Being part of the igus bike tour is a great opportunity for me to get to know our customers up close and share their stories and values with the world.
I embraced this challenge with great enthusiasm, and we are excited to keep the world moving together.

Rodrigo Sanches
My name is Rodrigo Sanches. I have been working at igus Brazil for 12 years in external sales within the dry-tech® BU, and I currently serve as a Key Account Manager (KAM) in Rio Grande do Sul.
What motivates me the most is the diversity of products, applications, industries we serve, and above all, the people. I grow professionally when I see the growth of our customers and partners. After all, when we deliver solutions that add technology, reduce costs, and contribute to the environment, we grow together.
The igus bike initiative does not surprise me. Anyone who lives the igus culture knows that it reflects our values: technology applied to sustainability — and working in real life.

Gabriel Volpato – Marketing analyst
My name is Gabriel, and I have been part of the igus Brazil marketing team since 2020, when I joined the company as an apprentice. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside the company and evolve within the marketing area.
Today, I work with graphic design, video editing, and digital marketing initiatives, helping transform ideas into visual experiences that communicate the igus purpose. I enjoy being hands-on, learning new skills, and taking on challenges with enthusiasm, whether behind a camera, at the computer, or on the road.
Accompanying the igus Bike Tour throughout its entire journey is a unique opportunity for me to tell real stories, capture meaningful moments, and showcase how our brand connects with people, places, and innovation.
I am truly excited to be part of this experience and to help ensure that every stage of the tour becomes a memorable chapter in our story.
