Stage 15 Wuhan:From Yellow Crane Tower to and WISDRI
Jen Chen | 26. April 2025
Today, we arrived in Wuhan, a city nurtured by its rivers. Wuhan City is not only the birthplace of Chu culture, but also the innovation powerhouse of China’s Optics Valley and a key hub along the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
In the morning, we first visited the Yellow Crane Tower, one of the four most renowned towers in China. With a history of 1,780 years and having undergone multiple restorations and reconstructions, the Yellow Crane Tower offers breathtaking views. From the top, we overlooked the mighty Yangtze River surging eastward and caught sight of China’s first combined road-rail bridge spanning the river. The magnificent cityscape unfolded before our eyes, as if we could hear the echoes of history whispering through time.

Later, we visited WISDRI Engineering and Research Incorporation Limited (referred to as “WISDRI”). Leveraging technological innovation and full industry chain service capabilities, WISDRI constantly delivers green, intelligent, and efficient solutions to clients worldwide. In support of China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, WISDRI is advancing low-carbon technologies in the steel industry (such as hydrogen-based shaft furnaces) and promoting urban low-carbon initiatives (such as sponge city project).

Finally, we arrived at Wuhan’s “green lung” — the Mo Hill of Wuhan East Lake Scenic Area, where we immersed ourselves in the beauty of nature. This urban lake peninsula is distinguished by three key features: Chu culture, specialized botanical gardens, and stunning lake-and-mountain scenery. The East Lake Greenway winds through the area, connecting lakes, forests, and wetlands, creating a unique landscape where mountains, waters, cities, and forests coexist in harmony.

Wuhan, a city that blends deep historical roots with vibrant modern energy, radiates a unique charm and immense potential. Isn’t the story of recycled plastics much the same? From products to discarded waste, and from waste back into new products, the cycle continues, breathing new life into plastics again and again.
