As the capital of thirteen dynasties and the eastern starting point of the Silk Road, Xi’an is a city steeped in thousands of years of civilization.

Today’s journey begins at the South Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Built during the Tang Dynasty, the pagoda has stood tall for over 1,300 years. This ancient Buddhist landmark witnessed the golden age of the Silk Road and the epic pilgrimage of Tang monk Xuanzang to India. Climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of the ancient city, blending history with the present.

Mingde Gate, once known as the “First Gate of the Sui and Tang Dynasties,” stood proudly on the central north-south axis of ancient Chang’an. Though later destroyed by war, a heritage park now marks its location. Through striking red metal installations, visitors can still feel the splendor of the Tang Dynasty.

A trip to Xi’an wouldn’t be complete without a walk along the City Wall. Strolling along this ancient fortification, we can feel the richness of history. Grey bricks and dark tiles whisper tales from a thousand years ago, while the majestic watchtowers silently witness the rise and fall of dynasties. Hop on a bike and cruise along the wall—it’s a unique way to experience the fusion of past and present.

Morning bells and evening drums—timeless echoes of Xi’an. The Xi’an Bell Tower is one of China’s largest and best-preserved ancient bell towers. Its history traces back to the early Tang Dynasty, originally serving as the bell tower of the Taiji Palace and Yingxiang Temple. With exquisite craftsmanship and immense cultural value, the Bell Tower stands as a lasting symbol of historical preservation.

Such is the case with cultural heritage, the environment, and our resources. At igus, we believe that even discarded plastics still have value—sustainability is the path to shaping the future.
