Stage 1: Warsaw on two wheels. Modernity, history and the bicycle of the future!
Anna Kielar | 7. August 2025
After its Czech adventure, igus:bike is starting its journey across Poland. This is the next stage of a global tour promoting sustainable mobility and engineering innovation. The starting point? The capital city – full of contrasts, history and cycling routes.
A Modern Beginning at Działkowa Street
This is where it all begins. The Polish headquarters of igus is located on Działkowa Street in Warsaw – a place where a passion for engineering meets modernity and environmental responsibility. This is where igus:bike sets off on its journey across Poland – the bicycle of the future, which does not need grease, is not afraid of sand or dust, and impresses with its lightness.
A Ride Through the Heart of Warsaw
Let’s go! The bike, which does not contain a single gram of grease, travels kilometre after kilometre – this time through the streets of Warsaw. This is where technology meets history, and cycling is a great way to feel the atmosphere of the city – from the bustling Old Town to the green corners of the Vistula River.
Exploring the Capital
From Działkowa, we head towards the Palace of Culture and Science – a symbol of Warsaw and a landmark with a panoramic view of the entire city. Right next door is the Museum of Modern Art – a unique space for contemporary artists.
Further on, we follow the bike paths along Świętokrzyska and Nowy Świat – prestigious streets full of cafés and city life.
Monuments, Memory, and National Identity
We arrive at Saski Garden and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Piłsudski Square. From here, it is not far to Krakowskie Przedmieście and the Presidential Palace, where we turn towards the heart of the Old Town. The Royal Castle, Sigismund’s Column, charming tenement houses – everything breathes history. We meet the Warsaw Mermaid and head towards the multimedia fountains.
Where Technology Meets Nature
We head for the Vistula Boulevards – a green, lively place to relax by the river. Here we encounter another Mermaid – a symbol of courage and the spirit of the city. On the other side of the Vistula, we admire the National Stadium – a modern facility and the pride of contemporary Warsaw.
Ready for the Next Ride?
The igus:bike travels quietly and smoothly along the route without grease, noise or exhaust fumes – ready for more cities in Poland.
Our rider: Daniel Marzec
Daniel began his adventure with igus in 2012 as a Sales Engineer. Since 2018, he has been the Managing Director. Today, he opened the first stage of our unique bike route, covering 16 kilometres through Warsaw on a fully corrosion-resistant igus:bike. Along the way, he visited, among others, Plac Zamkowy, the Old Town and the Vistula boulevards, proving that lubrication-free solutions also work perfectly in the urban jungle.
Privately, he is a happy husband and father of two children. He relaxes best when running in the woods with his dog, Kumpel. Whenever the opportunity arises, he takes his family and friends out on a sailboat to enjoy the charms of the Masurian Lake District. Now, testing new mobility – on two wheels, without a drop of grease – has been added to his list of passions.
