Singapore’s Rail Corridor: A Green Adventure
Aaron Lim | 12. December 2024
The igus:bike world tour continues through the lush landscapes of Singapore, and what better way to highlight the city’s natural beauty than by cycling along the iconic Rail Corridor? On a warm morning with temperatures soaring to 38 degrees, Carsten Haecker, our Head of Asia Pacific, embarked on a scenic ride from Greenleaf View to the historic Bukit Timah Railway Station, culminating at the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Despite the heat, the trail was bustling with weekend cyclists and joggers, each enjoying this green oasis amidst the urban hustle.
Once a railway line connecting Singapore to Malaysia, the Rail Corridor has been transformed into a 24-kilometer recreational path. Its rich greenery and landmarks, like the beautifully restored Bukit Timah Railway Station, offer a glimpse into Singapore’s past while celebrating its commitment to preserving nature. The journey ended at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, a serene spot that showcases Singapore’s diverse ecosystem and offers a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.
As we continue the igus:bike journey through Singapore, we’re embracing the vibrant outdoor lifestyle and green spaces that make this city so unique.
Stay tuned for more stories as we discover the sights, sounds, and people that bring sustainability to life!
