Why should I prefer a “star quad structure” for movement in a linear chain?
A normal twisted pair cable without a star quad structure would have to have very many filler elements in order to end up with a round cable shape. These filler elements would make the interior structure of such a cable very unstable and the cores would move about a lot in the cable. As a result, this structure is not very durable. The star quad structure with its centreing is more suitable here as the cores do not move about.
