Do cables become longer in hanging applications?

You are here:

Yes, theoretically. However, this effect is irrelevant and can readily be ignored. It is much more important that the tensile force acting on cables in vertical and hanging applications does not exceed a maximum level. The maximum permissible tensile force for standard cables is 15N/mm² cross section of the main cores.

Due to a special structure with carrier elements, much higher loads can be achieved.
