Rakshith Rao | 18. February 2025

The atmosphere was electrifying as the igus:bike reached its final stage—a defining moment in the world of sustainable transportation! And what better way to mark this milestone than with a grand inauguration in Pune? Buckle up (or should we say, pedal up?) as we take you through an unforgettable journey filled with thrill, tradition, and tech magic.

Beginning with a Festive Flair

The celebrations kicked off in true Indian style—to the beats of traditional dhol tasha. Enthusiastic spectators gathered to witness this event—what a proud moment for us.

Seeing the bike standing tall as a symbol of innovation and sustainability? Absolute bliss.

A Test Drive to Katraj Tunnel

Time to put the bike to the test! What better way than a ride through the Katraj Tunnel—a true marvel of modern engineering? And wow, what a ride it was. The igus:bike rode through the tunnel like a dream—smooth, stable, and so quiet, you could hear yourself grinning.

An adrenaline rush on an eco-friendly bike? Who knew!

Temple & Fort Stopovers

Next, we rode to two iconic landmarks of Pune: Swaminarayan Temple and Shaniwar Wada. The contrast was striking—our igus:bike standing proudly against the backdrop of centuries-old heritage sites. Curious onlookers gathered, who seemed to be pretty eager to learn more about the bike.

Their excitement was contagious, making the journey even more rewarding!.

Tech Talk at COEP

Then, we rolled into College of Engineering Pune (COEP)—one of India’s oldest and most prestigious engineering institutes. The students and faculty were all ears (and eyes!) as they explored the bike’s features. A professor even showed a keen interest in diving deep into its design and technology. And the interactive session with students? Absolutely brilliant!

Their insights on the future of sustainable mobility left us inspired and excited for what’s to come.

At Savitribai Phule Pune University

And finally, we reached—Savitribai Phule Pune University. The enthusiasm of students and faculty was nothing short of amazing. We had some fantastic conversations, and their interest in our bike made us believe that we are up there for a change.

It was the perfect ending—blend of education, innovation, and sustainability!

What’s Next? The Future is Bright!

Pune was all about sparking conversations, inspiring change, and proving that the future of mobility is green and glorious. So, where’s the bike headed next? Stay tuned—!
