Ei Gude from Frankfurt!

spappers | 31. October 2024

“Ei Gude!” is the common greeting in Frankfurt am Main (Frankfurt dialect for “Good day”) 😉 And that’s where our igus:bike team starts the last stage of this week. Located in the middle of Germany, it is not only the fifth-largest city of the country but also a major financial hub that’s home to the European Central Bank. Today’s weather: Cloudy, but dry. The mood of our team: great. Because this morning they have a special visit ahead of them: Frankfurt Airport. It is Germany’s main international airport and even one of the busiest airports worldwide.

Together with our sales colleague Mio Andjelovic, who is riding the igus:bike today, they meet our customer Fraport AG, a German transport company which operates Frankfurt Airport. After several safety checks, the team heads to the A30 passenger boarding bridge. Because here, an assembly team is about to install a new readychain – our ready-to-connect e-chain system with chainflex cables. The passenger bridges are used numerous times a day and are moved in all kinds of directions. Thanks to our readychains, Fraport can be sure that they work smoothly in every kind of weather – which is especially important when millions of passengers need to safely board and deboard the planes every year.

After the visit at the aiport, the igus:bike team makes their way to the city centre of Frankfurt. They start at the Niederräder Ufer and then follow the course of the Main River to the Iron Footbridge right in the heart of the old town. The city offers a variety of historical gems but also modern skycrapers – which explains its nickname “Mainhattan” 😉

Finally, the bike team keeps riding east along the Main River until they reach Offenbach. Here, they meet Jan Philipp Hollmann, Head of Bike Components at igus, and together they visit our customer Advanced Bikes. Jan Philipp and Helge von Fugler, founder and Managing Director of Advanced Bikes, have been working together on a very special project: the first bicycle frame made from recyclable plastic. It is manufactured by igus using injection moulding and is used by Advanced Bikes in their new Reco Urban trekking e-bike.

… but now it’s time to head home – and wish everyone a happy Halloween!

Our rider: Mio Andjelovic

My name is Mio Andjelovic, I am 40 years old and come from Stockstadt am Main, a suburb of Aschaffenburg. I work as a sales representative for igus (in the field of e-chains, cables, connectors and ready-to-install systems) in the Darmstadt / Frankfurt region. I find it impressive that, just like our motion plastics, everything at igus is in motion, with a particular focus on sustainability. The continuous development of new technologies and ideas drives us forward and never lets us get bored. I’m looking forward to testing the igus:bike on my part of the tour!
