Between innovation and nature

Who would have thought that groundbreaking innovations are not only created in the big German cities, but also in the idyllic corners of the country? Today, our tour takes us to picturesque Wolfertschwenden in the southern Allgäu region, where the MULTIVAC Group has its headquarters. Like igus, MULTIVAC’s success story began in the 1960s in a modest garage. Today the family-owned company is a global player and offers its customers in the food, consumer & industrial goods and medical & pharmaceutical sectors an impressive range of packaging technologies, handling and automation solutions, as well as marking, inspection and quality control systems. A particular highlight of the cooperation between MULTIVAC and igus is the development of the first energy chain made of FDA-compliant plastic in accordance with hygienic design guidelines. This innovation is perfectly suited for applications in the food industry. But that’s not all – the lubrication-free plain bearing technology from igus is also used here and ensures smooth processes.

We continued past meadows and forests to the river Iller. As a right tributary of the Danube, the Iller is now heavily used for sustainable energy production. At the river, the path led over the 80-meter-long suspension bridge. Here we had a breathtaking view of the Illerschleife, the dam and the wide fields.

At the end of the day, the tour team took the opportunity to make a short detour to Lake Constance and pay a visit to the island and garden town of Lindau.

Our rider: Dominik Kaczynski

My name is Dominik, I am 36 years old and live in Neu-Ulm. I am a technical sales consultant for dry-tech products at igus in the Bavarian Allgäu. I get to drive to the beautiful Allgäu almost every day to visit our customers, basically where others go on vacation. I think the idea of making a bike out of recycled waste and doing something good for the environment at the same time is simply great! Now I am curious to see how the igus:bike rides on idyllic bike paths.
