I was astonished when my colleague explained to me during a visit to our branch how the maintenance intervals work with his customers. “Maintenance is done when the machine breaks down! Our customers are happy about every component they can rely on.” That’s why today we take up the topic of quality and maintenance for […]
Whether at the largest manufacturer of rubber gloves in Malaysia or at a specialist in the packaging process of condoms in Thailand: machines in latex processing depend on durable and fail-safe components to avoid downtime. Metal ball bearings are used in a wide range of applications. However, the deployment could turn out to be a […]
There are control systems whose encoder card is usually compatible with 24V and/or single-ended encoders. igus motors, however, work with 5V and as line drivers. A connection of these two voltages requires another component or a special encoder card.Today we are looking at the connection of igus motors to control systems that work with 24V […]
Plain bearings often have to withstand considerable adverse influences such as abrasive dust, high speeds or chemicals. To enable indication of the degree of wear of such plain bearings in good time, last year igus developed the world’s first intelligent bearing with iglidur high-performance polymers. This warns of imminent failure in good time. Machine and equipment operators can plan maintenance, repairs and part replacement in advance.
In this particular case, I will focus on the concept of condition monitoring. This technology at igus is called i.Sense and is derived from sensing/feeling. We found the name quite appropriate, as condition monitoring has exactly this function: the sensing of malfunctions.
