A Sunny Farewell: Wrapping Up the Singapore Leg of the igus:bike World Tour

Aaron Lim | 19. December 2024

As the Singapore leg of the igus:bike world tour comes to an end, what better way to celebrate than spending a sunny weekend at Sentosa, Singapore’s iconic beach destination?

The day began at Universal Studios Singapore, the perfect vibrant starting point to set the tone for the adventure. From there, the ride continued to Sentosa’s picturesque Palawan and Siloso Beaches, two of its most beloved spots.

Under the tropical sun, the igus:bike blended seamlessly with the surroundings—not just as a symbol of sustainability but as a reflection of its origins. The igus:bike was inspired by Frank’s holiday on a Florida beach, where the vision of transforming ocean plastics into something meaningful first took shape. Cycling along Sentosa’s shores with the ocean in the background felt like a poetic full-circle moment, reminding us of how far this journey has come.

But the day wasn’t just about cycling. The team took a well-earned break to enjoy the lively beach vibes with a small picnic and gathering. Sharing food, laughter, and friendly games of beach volleyball under the warm sun brought a sense of camaraderie to the day. A cheeky monitor lizard even added a bit of excitement, curiously inspecting our bicycles during a break—a quirky encounter that will certainly stay with us.

Reflecting on the Singapore leg of the world tour, it’s incredible to think about the diversity this small island nation offers. From its stunning beaches to its ultra-modern skyline and rich cultural heritage, Singapore is a true blend of tradition and progress. The igus:bike has had the privilege of exploring these landscapes, inspiring meaningful conversations about sustainability and innovation along the way.

As we bid farewell to Singapore, we do so with a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences, the connections, and the memories made.

The igus:bike now prepares for its next stop: Vietnam! Stay tuned as the world tour continues!
