A Spooky Stop and the Inspiring Trikes of Triot

With another long stretch of road ahead, our riders pointed the van toward Kaysville, Utah, ready to visit Triot, a truly innovative recumbent trike manufacturer. But first, they needed a place to spend the night — and ended up having an unforgettable, spooky experience that was seriously reminiscent of The Shining.
Our riders rolled up to the Zermatt Resort hotel at 11:30 P.M., more than ready to crash after a long day of driving. However, in a twist of unfortunate (and cinematic!) timing, the hotel was in the middle of an overnight power outage. Armed with nothing but flashlights, our riders had to brave the unsettling, dark ambiance to find their rooms. Let’s just say, the silence and shadow-play made for a memorable night — they definitely earned their visit the next morning!
Having survived their dark and dramatic stay, our riders set off for Triot. Once there, they got to meet and speak with Martin “Marty” Rasmussen, the founder and chair of Triot. Marty is a legendary inventor and entrepreneur, having founded his first company back in 1963. His latest venture, Triot, is deeply inspirational.
The trikes manufactured here are life-changing, built specifically for riders with muscle deficiencies, prosthetics, or other disabilities that might restrict them from riding a standard bicycle. Each trike is custom-built based on the customer’s specific needs, guaranteeing complete familiarity and total comfort on every ride.
How does igus help these magnificent machines roll? Triot trikes rely on both iglide and igubal 2.0 bearings to handle two critical design problems. The original bearings would frequently snap if too much force was applied to a single side of the trike. Plus, because the trikes sit so low to the ground, corrosion from dirt and moisture was a frequent issue with all-metal bearings. Our lightweight, corrosion-resistant polymer bearings provided the perfect fix, ensuring the trikes are durable and reliable for every user.
After a fantastic day of enlightening conversation and even trying out the Triot trikes for themselves, our riders were ready to say goodbye to Marty and the Triot team. It was almost time to end their jam-packed week with some well-deserved, high-octane fun — starting off with the incredible Red Bull Rampage mountain biking event near Zion National Park in Virgin, Utah!
