A Day Ride Through Time, Terrain, and Technology
Rakshith Rao | 21. February 2025
There’s nothing like the thrill of a road trip—wind in your hair, a smooth bike ride, and an adventure waiting ahead. Our recent ride to Lonavala, one of Maharashtra’s most loved hill stations, was an absolute treat. To top it off, we also got a behind-the-scenes look at Godrej Interio, a leading name in the furniture industry. What we witnessed? Let’s take you through.
Karla Caves – A Trip Back in Time
We visited the Karla Caves, one of India’s ancient rock-cut caves built by Buddhist around the 3rd to 2nd Century B.C.A. The intricate carvings and historical significance, showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The Ride to Lonavala
Our rider, Shankar, rode through Lonavala’s winding roads, lush green valleys, misty air, enjoying the ride.
Lonavala is located about 60 km from Pune and 96 km from Mumbai. Along with its picturesque landscapes and serene environment, this hill station also has historical significance. It is well-known for INS Shivaji, a reputed technical training institute for the Indian Navy.

Tiger’s Point – The Edge of Adventure
First stop? Tiger’s Point, a cliff that drops over 650 meters! The view? Absolutely mind-blowing. The panoramic views from this point were simply stunning. It is a paradise for photography lovers and anyone looking for a bit of adventure.

A Visit to Godrej Interio – Innovation in Action
After riding through Lonavala’s natural and historical beauty, we made our way to Godrej Interio in Khalapur. Godrej is a name we all know—famous for its high-quality home appliances and furniture. Getting a peek into their manufacturing unit was a fascinating experience.
We watched their super-efficient assembly line in action, where precision is key. The coolest part? Seeing how our e-chains, cables, and harnessed cables fit into their production processes. These components play a vital part in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of the company’s manufacturing processes. Watching our products in action at such a big-name brand was definitely a proud moment!

An Unforgettable Day
As we rode back, we couldn’t help but replay the best moments—the igus: bike’s smooth ride through the cliff, wandering through ancient caves and watching cutting-edge technology in action.
At the end of the day, we can proudly say that today’s experiences made us appreciate both nature’s beauty and humanity.
That’s a wrap for the day. We will be back with our next blog soon. Stay tuned.
Our rider: Shankar Honwad
Hi, I am Shankar Honwad, a sales engineer from team West and associated with igus since last 8 years. A mechanical engineer by profession I am enthusiastic about new products and innovations. The RYCL ride made me nostalgic about my days when we used to pedal every day to our school.
Was a good experience overall riding and interacting with curious people around us.

Our rider: Rajesh Jadhav
Hi, i’m Rajesh Jadhav , responsible for ECS business in Mumbai. The bicycle with ocean plastic waste cycling experience combines environmental consciousness with adventure, offering riders the chance to cycle while raising awareness about ocean pollution.
