Off-road test for the igus:bike at Wahner Heide
adematos | 17. October 2024
Tour day 2 stared with dry conditions and around 15°C. On the bike: Max Burger. Starting point was again our headquarters in Cologne Porz-Lind. After a short 4 kilometre ride, the team arrived at the facilities of ARIS Stellenantriebe GmbH, manufacturer of advanced Linearis drives. Linearis drives are powered by igus dryspin lead screw units, which provide precise movement and positioning. The igus drives are already proving their durability in tough industrial applications, such as paint shops in the automotive industry (for more info on the application, watch the below interview).
After a short and test ride by Alexander Scholl, Project Engineer at ARIS, the tour continued towards the Wahner Heide, where uneven, dirty terrain put the off-road qualities of the urban bike to the test. The Wahner Heide is a nature reserve, characterised by a mix of heathlands, marshes, moors, and forests. The tour ends after approximately 25 kilometers at a quiet lake ner Königsforst.

Some impressions of the tour
Our rider: Max Burger
I am Max Burger, 21 years old and from Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, a small village near Cologne. I have been working as an apprentice in the marketing department at igus since September 2023. During my apprenticeship, I helped with various events at igus. The latest project I supported is this bike tour around the world and I am excited to now be a part of it. I look forward to testing the bike on my part of the tour!
