The energy chain in the lane

Christian Strauch | 16. March 2020

There are so many reasons why an energy chain is rarely found in the aisles of high-bay warehouses. The main reason is probably the price.

In contrast to the busbar system, which merely consists of a plastic profile and the copper or aluminium strands embedded in it, we speak of the energy chain as a tribologically optimised polymer product, plus the highly flexible brand of chainflex cables inside it and, finally, a guide trough, which is required to ensure that the energy chain is also optimally guided.

It is easy to understand that this package is inevitably much more expensive than the busbar system. And this price difference nullifies all other advantages such as the freedom from maintenance, safety (no open contacts), absolutely trouble-free data transmission, cleanliness, etc. of the energy chain compared to the busbar system.

But now there is a real alternative: the new autoglide 5. This chain does not require a guide trough and is assembled in no time at all. These are two important factors which make the autoglide interesting and competitive compared to the busbar system and which continue to fulfil all the advantages of the energy chain.
