5 DOF arm for long reach (1,5 m)

Martin Raak | 15. October 2014

this is an example for aa very individual solution: a 5 DOF arm with different joint types for the positioning of LED lights in a museum. The reach is quite long here (1,5 m), but the required speed is low, that’s why we built the unit with our NEMA17 stepper motors. The arm will be […]

pick + place of petri dishes with robolink D unit

Martin Raak | 26. August 2014

In this case petri dishes shall be placed and displaced from a storage. We used our RL-D demo unit to show its ability for this task. The programming was done with our IME Software. As always, there is no inverse kinematics or path planning executed. The single positions have been teached.

soft robot II

Martin Raak | 24. July 2014

Here is another example of a “soft” application. In this case, I only programmed the START and the END position by “teach in”. 2 or 3 intermediate positions have roughly been teached (without any precision). The Robot arm does not know anything about “inverse kinematics”, circle mathematics and so on. The movement is possible, because […]

Soft Robot

Martin Raak | 8. July 2014

2 weeks ago I have had the opportunity to join the first international Symposium on SOFT ROBOTICS in Germany at the IPA Fraunhofer Institute in Stuttgart. Many researchers and users discussed about soft and “compliant” robots. What does it mean? In my understanding, “soft” robots act more like humans (or animals). Softness can be achieved by highly […]

robolink D: Automatica 2014

Martin Raak | 28. May 2014

We will present a new design for our robolink D joint arm concept at the AUTOMATICA trade show in Munich. Improvements (against HMI 2014 in April): – lean connection parts between the joints save weight and costs, – more dynamic movements, – 2 additional single axis (RL-D-20-001-MOT17-E) show the modular character of this product. I […]
