Can I press-fit iglidur plain bearings in plastic holes? What do I need to pay attention to?

You are here:

iglidur plain bearings can be press-fitted in plastic holes without any problems. However, it must be borne in mind that iglidur plain bearings are fixed in place in the hole by means of a so-called press-fit. The fact that there is greater thermal expansion or swelling due to moisture compared to metal can mean that the hole expands before the plain bearing dies; the consequence is that the press-fit is lost and the bearing “slips” out of the hole – which, however, can also contract in relation to the plain bearing. The inner diameter of the bearing changes as a result and it becomes jammed on the shaft.
