Calculate guaranteed service life online
igus has been offering a guarantee on cables from the chainflex product range since 2015. By doing so, igus was and is still the only supplier of highly flexible cables for movement, who offers a guarantee. Various customers have already made use of this service and increased the security of their application.
Guarantee vs. Warranty
Offering a guarantee (not to be confused with the legal warranty; this guarantee is additional) usually constitutes a certain risk for the manufacturer. They have to exchange the product in case of a fault, e.g. a manufacturing defect, free of charge. In the case of a guarantee, the guarantor is obliged to act in a specific way, in a specific circumstance. Offering the guarantee is voluntary and helps increase the customers’ trust in the product or the manufacturing company.
Tested reliability
Due to millions of tests in the igus test lab, the vast database and extensive experience, igus can predict the service life of their cables and energy chains very reliably. Hence, the risk is very low, as cables and energy chains can usually operate reliably for a lot longer than ten years.
Service life calculator
In February 2020, this security led us to offer a guarantee for three years on energy chains as well. To make the guarantee more transparent and easier for our customers, the guarantee certificate can even be requested online with just a few clicks in the service life calculator by entering only a little technical data. An expected service life of the energy chain is calculated, which is confirmed by the guarantee. Therefore, the guarantee of 36 months or the calculated service life applies – whichever comes first.
Depending on the application, surroundings and dynamic conditions, the expected service life of our plastic e-chains is often significantly longer than 10 years. Hence, this guarantee service emphasises the safety aspect and helps you design your application correctly and always choose the most cost-effective and reliable e-chain.
The basis of the unique guarantee for the e-chain is the same as the one for our cables: a service life calculator, which gets its data from over 10 billion e-chain test cycles that are carried out every year in the igus e-chain and chainflex laboratory in Cologne, Germany.
