Film and camera systems quickly and easily assembled with autoglide 5!

I don’t think there is any industry where plant and installations are assembled and disassembled as quickly as here. Music events, festivals, sporting events, etc. usually only last a few days. This means that there is little time for assembly and disassembly.

For automatic camera systems for longer distances, certain rail systems are required. If the camera also has to be connected with energy or data cables, then a guide trough for the energy chain is also required in addition to these camera rails. All this costs a lot of time, a lot of work and of course also material and transport costs.

With the new autoglide 5, igus can drastically reduce costs and assembly time here.

The new autoglide 5 no longer requires a guide trough for long travels of up to 80 metres (probably even more, but igus has yet to test this in its in-house laboratory) . An ordinary steel rope is simply stretched along the travel. The autoglide 5 has special crossbars on the outside with a groove that precisely fits the rope diameter. When the chain unwinds on the steel rope, the crossbars with the groove are fixed on the rope, so that a straight run of the chain is guaranteed. The energy chain cannot swing out to the right or left. Special comb-like crossbars on the inside of the chain also help to achieve this:

And now for the best part: we’ve tested it: compared to a conventional installation with guide trough, you save 88% installation time.Regardless of the length, the installation takes less than one hour!

Have a look at our short film here. https://www.igus.co.uk/info/material-handling-solutions Here an energy chain is installed in an aisle of a high rack. You can easily imagine that this installation is also basically the same on a film set, in a stadium, on stage and in the theatre!
