Why do some BUS cables have foam core insulation (FOAM)?

Foam core insulation ensures that there is a defined distance between the individual cores but the material constant of the insulating material is similar to that of air and not of plastic. If normal core insulation were to be used, it would not be possible to adhere to the BUS specifications.
