Test laboratory for cables only for research and development? – NO!

We have already written about our test laboratory for cables and its importance in a previous article. In addition to testing for research and development, and for safety in new products, our laboratory also offers other possibilities, which we would like to discuss in more detail today.
The standard tests
Newly manufactured cables are always subjected to standard tests directly after production. In addition, large parts of the manufactured cables are subjected to a batch test at igus. Here brief test procedures are run and the cables are stressed and monitored with defined bend radii and double strokes. This ensures quality in the long term.
Regular measurements and documentation provide information about the functions of the cable and their changes in different batches. The customer must be able to rely 100% on each and every cable.
This is the only way we can make clear statements to the user about the specifications of the respective cables and permanently ensure the best possible quality standard. After all, this is the basis for our clear 36-month guarantee, which must be maintained.
This process has now also been verified by an external third party, Underwriters Laboratories.
Certificates and seals of approval
We focus on quality. Therefore, we are constantly updating our test certificates. For many customers these are absolutely essential, because they appear in the most diverse markets.
In recent years there have been a large number of new cables with UL certification. These certificates are not only preceded by countless tests, but also a lot of exchange with external partners and a little bureaucracy. Many discussions and co-ordination with the external auditing bodies are required. This process often takes years.
In all these tests, it is our aim to maintain the quality level permanently and not only selectively.
Your benefit from the test laboratory for cables
“We know what we’re doing.” Our test laboratory for cables is one reason for this. Our experience and our various possibilities in this field enable us to provide clear and above all proven statements to our customers. This makes us not only credible, but above all reliable.
For this reason, the requirement profile is also constantly evolving in co-operation with external partners. With DNV-GL, for example, a test specification has been developed in order to be able to perform tests for applications in harsh maritime environments, in general, when it involves chain movement.
Due to our test laboratory, we have the continuous opportunity to expand our specialist knowledge and have access to even more experience in the future. Amongst other things, we have better adapted the outer jacket materials to the energy supply system and can therefore guarantee even greater reliability.
Continuous improvement and further development of our online tools, from which users can benefit. This includes the service life calculator or the product finder.
