Maintenance requirements recognised in advance with intelligent linear guides

Richard Habering | 15. April 2021

drylin linear guide systems have to withstand extreme conditions in continuous operation or even in abrasive environments. So that the the linear guides can slide without lubricant, igus relies on linear bearings made of high-performance polymers. But when should I change the bearing? The smart linear carriage from igus helps here. Due to intelligent sensors, the maintenance technician receives information about the maintenance requirement at the push of a button.

Hard on the outside, smart on the inside: intelligent plain bearings enable continuous condition monitoring

Richard Habering | 7. April 2021

Plain bearings often have to withstand considerable adverse influences such as abrasive dust, high speeds or chemicals. To enable indication of the degree of wear of such plain bearings in good time, last year igus developed the world’s first intelligent bearing with iglidur high-performance polymers. This warns of imminent failure in good time. Machine and equipment operators can plan maintenance, repairs and part replacement in advance.

Condition monitoring is synonymous with i.Sense at igus

Richard Habering | 31. March 2021

In this particular case, I will focus on the concept of condition monitoring. This technology at igus is called i.Sense and is derived from sensing/feeling. We found the name quite appropriate, as condition monitoring has exactly this function: the sensing of malfunctions.

Condition monitoring of linear robots

Richard Habering | 26. March 2021

This or something similar must have happened between Güdel and igus at one of the earlier Hannover Messe events. It was decided, probably along with a handshake, to feed the condition monitoring system from Güdel with the data from the condition monitoring system from igus (i.Sense).

Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance in clean combination

Richard Habering | 19. March 2021

What is it? Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance optimally belong together and complement each other in a good system. The clean combination comes quite simply because we are talking about a train wash facility here. I would like to say that everyone knows a car wash. Some of you may have already noticed the energy […]
