Some people rotate just so that everything revolves around them – xiros® uses a new material to enhance sustainability

According to our motto, “xiros® goes green”, we are launching a ball bearing that contains 97% regranulate. We are moving in an environmentally friendly direction, since sustainability is becoming increasingly important, especially in industry. The reason is obvious, since industry is among the top three CO2 emitters worldwide.
But recycling is only a small part of an iterative circular economy process. While recycling means that products are not simply thrown away, but are reused like such items as PET bottles, the circular economy involves the entire product life cycle – from plan to design to use to recycling: the product is designed to be sustainable from the outset so that it can be used for as long as possible. We thus give production waste and by-products a completely new status and incorporate them directly into new production as recycled material. The important thing here is conserving resources, closing energy and material cycles, and not tying economic growth to resource consumption.
Regranulate is playing an increasingly important role in our production. The challenge is to ensure consistent quality and function. In keeping with the circular economy, we tackled the material for our xirodur® ECO B180. It consists of 97% regranulate from such sources as sprue from injection moulding. This avoids the disposal process and gives used plastics a new life in the cycle. The result is an ECO all-rounder in green with low moisture absorption and high media resistance, installation size 6000, with a choice of stainless steel or glass balls.
