Is the colour of the bearing freely selectable?
Unfortunately no – the colour is usually due to the composition of the respective material and there are often only a few individual dyes that are simultaneously suitable for a material and do not have an adverse effect on its tribological properties. The wear behaviour depends on the composition of the material (the dye being a part of it) and adding a new dye often increases wear many times over. Each iglidur material has its own particular colour although some materials look almost identical.
