iglidur with “China FDA” – New certificate for the food industry

In the packaging, food and beverage industries, sensitive solutions are usually required. Special requirements must therefore be met. This applies in particular to direct contact with food and beverages. This is why we offer you solutions tuned to the specific needs of packaging machines with our maintenance-free and lubrication-free machine elements made of high-performance polymers. While the FDA conformity of some iglidur materials was sufficient for machine manufacturers and users in the food, beverage and packaging industry until a few years ago, EU 10/2011 conformity and the 3A standard (this one especially for the dairy industry) have recently been added. We have now been approached by some major customers for the first time this year about “China FDA”. The official designation of this “China Food Safety Standard” is GB 4806.7-2016. According to the major global players in the beverage industry, this conformity is currently not yet required for applications in direct food and beverage contact. But this should change from 2020 onwards. This applies in particular to all machines which are then sold to China. As one of the first manufacturers of bearing technology systems, igus has now worked on obtaining this certification for selected materials. Currently iglidur A181, A350 and A500 are compliant with the “China FDA”. Detailed information can also be found in the attached table. We can provide the appropriate certificates if required.
