An autoglide energy chain that does not require a guide trough has been available from igus for about 20 years. The principle of crossbars, which are designed like “tiewrap plates” so that the upper run can slide on the lower run while being fixed laterally, has been around for a long time.

The decisive difference between autoglide 5 and the first autoglide chain from igus is the dynamics and, of course, the max. travel length.

The autoglide 5 can safely travel up to 4m/s and even faster. Higher speeds are possible depending on the filling, travel and bend radius of the chain. In other words, the autoglide 5 is suitable for modern miniloads with speeds of up to 6m/s!

However, the autoglide 5 not only impresses with its max. travel speed, but especially because of the very fast and easy installation!

With a little preparation, a travel of up to 80 metres can be assembled within one hour. That’s a world record, isn’t it?

How long does it take to install a busbar system rail? Customers have reported to me that they calculate roughly 20 minutes for one metre. At 80 metres, that would be just over 26 hours, or about 3 days.
