A visit to a long-standing partner and one of our first recycling partners

Today’s tour takes us to Otto Christ in Benningen in the Allgäu region. Our customer is a manufacturer of innovative car washes for cars, buses and special utility vehicles. In these, igus energy chains are used – they carry media hoses, for example with water, and also cables from the technical room into the car wash. igus rod end bearings are also used in car washes. Here, our motion plastics can prove their advantages of not requiring lubrication and being durable and rust-free! Together with the customer, igus has even developed a new type of cable carrier.
We have an early Christmas present in our luggage: an igus:bike for Otto Christ! Together we set off for another Otto Christ location: Otto Christ Elektronic Systems, where touch panels as PCs and monitors, industrial PCs, as well as electronics for car washes are produced. Arriving at Otto Christ Elektronic Systems, the igus:bike arouses interest and is taken for a test ride.
Otto Christ was one of our first partners for the chainge energy chain recycling program. Car washing systems which have reached the end of their service life are returned to the head office and the energy chains installed in them are removed and transferred to the chainge recycling program. Together with recycling partners, we recycle the plastics so that they can be used again in new products.
And while we’re at a car wash, let’s take the opportunity to wash our igus:bike straight away!
After lunch together in a typical Allgäu-style brewery with bread dumplings, schnitzel, cream of mushroom soup and other local specialties, we are refreshed and head into the town to admire the Basilica of St. Alexander and Theodor in Ottobeuren.
Our rider: Lena Engel
My Name is Lena and I am responsible for the “chainge” recycling program at igus. As recycling also plays a major role in the development and vision of the igus:bike, I am happy to be part of the tour. Especially because I can accompany the stage at one of our most active “chainge” customers, the company Otto Christ AG.
