A Scenic Bike Tour Through Munich
adematos | 18. November 2024
Stage 17 takes us through Munich, where we cycle from Nymphenburg Palace, passing the Olympic Stadium and the English Garden, all the way to Marienplatz/Viktualienmarkt.
Our first stop on this stage was Hinterher GmbH, a company known for producing high-quality bicycle trailers. They incorporate igus products into their trailers, using precision-engineered aluminum drawbars that ensure smooth movement between the drawbar and its mount.
Of course we took the opportunity to try out one of the bike trailers: After loading the igus:bike onto the trailer, we went for a short ride to give the bike a break. Once we were done, we loaded the bikes back into the van and headed toward Munich’s city center. Once we were back on the bikes, we continued our journey into the heart of the city, passing the iconic Nymphenburg Palace along the way. This grand baroque palace, one of Munich’s most significant cultural landmarks, was originally built as a royal residence. The name “Nymphenburg,” meaning “Palace of the Nymphs,” reflects its early decorative themes, inspired by mythical water nymphs.
After leaving Nymphenburg Palace, we made our way to Olympiapark (Olympic Park), a significant landmark and versatile recreational space known for its rich history, striking architecture, and variety of activities. Originally built for the 1972 Summer Olympics, it has since become a popular destination for both locals and visitors, offering a diverse range of attractions and breathtaking views of the city and surrounding landscape. Stage 17 concludes after 14 kilometers.
