RW370 – the fire-resistant high temperature filament

With an upper short-term application temperature of + 190° C and an upper long-term application temperature of + 170°C, the RW370 filament is definitely one of those that cannot be processed with a commercially available 3d printer, like an ultimaker. The engineers from the business unit of additive manufacturing at igus have developed a 3D high-temperature printer for this purpose. The technical design data are, by the way, accessible and can of course be downloaded for free.

RW370 complies the European fire protection standard

DIN EN 45545 is the European fire protection standard and a pure material testing standard (since April 2016), which defines europe-wide requirements for all materials used in rail vehicles. Thus the RW370 was also examined and tested – with success, because the high-temperature filament fulfils the conditions and can be used without hesitation in railway technology.

Fire-resistant, maintenance-free and cost-effective

The high-temperature filament developed for railway technology is quite multifunctional. Anyone who has wondered at this point whether the material also has tribological properties can be reassured at this point. Of course, the RW370 also has the usual igus attributes. In addition to its outstanding fire-resistant properties, the RW370 has a great wear resistance – lubricants are not necessary here either.
