What options are available in triflex® R and what are the advantages of each?



TRC version
The TRC version has an enclosed design – cables and hoses are protected from damage through external factors such as chips or welding spatter. The following sizes are available:

TRC.125.182.0 (*)


TRE version
The TRE version has an “open design” with the igus® easy chain® system. Cables and hoses can be later inserted from the outside. This has inter alia the advantage that cables and hoses – with assembled connectors or fittings can be inserted or replaced in a flash in the TRE. The TRE version can be extended and shortened very easily, which can be done without tools. The following sizes are available:

TRE.125.182.0 (*)


TRE-B version

The TRE-B version is an enhanced version of the TRE version. An additional stop dog on the “ball” prevents the ball from jumping out of the socket connection in heavy loads – thus we arrive at an approximately 4-fold higher bend-radius stability in comparison to the TRE version. The dismantling of the TRE-B version is performed by a tool that we deliver with the goods. The TRE-B version is the new standard in the RS and RSP pull-back systems. The following sizes are available:



TRE-C Version
The TRE-C version is a special model for very demanding applications. The advantages of TRE-C version lies in the ease of installation and stability. The filling with cables and hoses is identical to the TRE and TRE-B versions. The separation of the TRE-C version is executed by the unlatching and pushing out a locking pin – the joining of the TRE-C version is just as simple.
The following sizes are available:

TRL version
The TRL version is our “light” version and is suitable for simple applications. The TRF consists of a 3-chamber design in conjunction with igus® easy chain® system. The tensile forces are transmitted like in TRC and TRE, through the ball and socket joint “trailer principle”. The TRL is the lowest priced.

Why triflex® R and no protective hoses …

The triflex® R energy supply system was developed for sophisticated robotic applications and compared to the protective hose, offers the following technical advantages.

Each triflex® R chain link has a stable circumferential bending radii stop. This ensures that the minimum bending radius of cables/hoses doesn’t fall short and the service life of the application is significantly increased.

Every triflex® R chain link has a defined torsion stop. This prevents the cables and hoses from being overloaded during operation. Thus, the lifetime of the application is significantly increased.

All triflex® R type series and sizes follow a modular system. Thus each triflex® R energy supply system can be extended and shortened. Any desired length can also be retrofitted – individual triflex® R chain links can be used or removed at any position.

By the 2- or 3-chamber system, a spatial separation of the cables and hoses can be implemented. Different cables and media can be securely routed, separated from each other.

Each TR chain link has a “ball/socket connection”. The push/pull forces are transmitted through this connection. The “ball/socket connection” is based on the “trailer” principle (similar to a trailer hitch), which absorbs very high forces.
